Opticianry Program
Program Objective and Scope
The Opticianry program aims to train healthcare technicians who understand eye and human anatomy, know and can implement opticianry systems, use opticianry software packages, recognize and operate optical instruments, and possess fundamental optical knowledge. The program enables students to acquire the competency to supply and apply necessary optical equipment for correcting and treating vision disorders, and to effectively provide vision health services using optical devices. The program was established in 2011 within Giresun University School of Health Services.
Education Model
- 2-year formal education (Language of instruction: Turkish)
- 3+1 Workplace Training Model
- 3 semesters of theoretical and practical courses at school
- 1 semester of full-time professional training at optical companies or healthcare institutions
Employment Opportunities
- Establishing their own optical stores
- Working as responsible managers in opticianry establishments
- Working in eyewear manufacturing and retail businesses
Program Facilities
The program utilizes the classrooms and practical laboratories of the School of Health Services. Students have the opportunity to complete their workplace training at optical companies and healthcare institutions across all provinces, allowing them to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
