Purpose and Scope of the Program

The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program at Giresun University Vocational School of Health Services was established to meet the growing demand for qualified workforce in the healthcare sector, and began accepting its first students in the 2011-2012 academic year.

The primary objective of the program is to train technicians who can effectively operate laboratory equipment used in diagnosis and treatment processes at healthcare institutions, and who can perform medical analyses accurately and reliably. The program aims to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Education Model

  • 2-year full-time education (Language of instruction: Turkish)
  • 3+1 Work-Based Vocational Training Model
  • Three semesters of theoretical and applied courses at school
  • Full-time workplace training at healthcare institutions in the 3rd or 4th semester
  • Students gain practical experience prior to graduation

Graduates may be appointed as Health Technicians (Medical Laboratory Technician) through the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Program Facilities

The program utilizes the classrooms and application laboratories of the Vocational School of Health Services. Students have the opportunity to complete their practical training at healthcare institutions in Giresun province, and their work-based vocational training at healthcare institutions across all provinces. This allows students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through hands-on practice.
