Program Objective and Scope

The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, located within Giresun University School of Health Services, was established to meet the growing need for qualified workforce in the healthcare sector and began its activities by accepting its first students in the 2011-2012 academic year.

The primary objective of the program is to train technicians who can effectively use laboratory equipment in healthcare institutions' diagnosis and treatment processes and perform medical analyses accurately and reliably. The program aims to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Education Model

  • 2-year formal education (Language of instruction: Turkish)
  • 3+1 Workplace Training Model
  • Three semesters of theoretical and practical courses at school
  • 3rd or 4th semester full-time workplace training at healthcare institutions
  • Students gain practical experience before graduation

Graduates can be appointed as Healthcare Technicians (Medical Laboratory Technicians) according to the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Program Facilities

The program utilizes the classrooms and practical laboratories of the School of Health Services. Students have the opportunity to complete their practical training at healthcare institutions in Giresun province during practice courses, and at healthcare institutions across all provinces during workplace training. This enables students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
