Program Objective and Scope

The First and Emergency Aid Program, located within Giresun University School of Health Services, was established in 2011 and began its educational activities by accepting its first students in the 2013-2014 academic year.

The primary objective of the program is to train professional-level healthcare personnel who can work within the framework of legal authority and responsibilities that define pre-hospital healthcare services, capable of providing life-saving and disability-preventing medical interventions during the period until the essential treatment of patients and injured individuals in the hospital. In this context, the program aims to train qualified paramedic personnel who will serve in the field of emergency healthcare services.

Education Model

  • 2-year formal education (Language of instruction: Turkish)
  • 3+1 Workplace Training Model
  • Three semesters of theoretical and practical courses at school
  • 3rd or 4th semester full-time workplace training at healthcare institutions
  • Enables paramedics, who have an important place in the healthcare system, to combine their theoretical knowledge with practical skills

Graduates can be appointed as Healthcare Technicians (Paramedics) according to the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Program Facilities

Practice Laboratory Equipment:
  • Basic and Advanced Life Support Mannequins
  • Airway Management Mannequin
  • Simulation Mannequin
  • Ambulance equipment (Ambulance stretchers, Laryngoscope, Splints, Emergency bag, etc.)

Students have the opportunity to gain practical experience at healthcare institutions in Giresun province during practice courses, and at healthcare institutions across all provinces during workplace training.
