The evaluation process conducted by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Education (MEDEK) has been successfully completed. As a result, the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program and the First and Emergency Aid Program within the Giresun University Vocational School of Health Services have been granted Full Accreditation.
In accordance with the decision of the Vocational Education Accreditation Board (MEK), both programs have been accredited for a four-year period, valid from 01 January 2026 to 31 December 2029, under the scope of Full Accreditation.
This outcome represents Giresun University’s first accreditation decision framework and constitutes a significant milestone in the University’s quality assurance and accreditation processes.
The achievement was attained following the MEDEK Site Visit conducted at the Vocational School between 10 and 12 November 2025, during which academic activities, program learning outcomes, physical and technological infrastructure, human resources, assessment practices, and quality assurance systems were evaluated through a comprehensive and holistic approach.
Commenting on the accreditation results, Prof. Dr. Aytaç Güder, Director of the Vocational School, emphasized that this success is the result of strong institutional collaboration and stated:
“We are very pleased that the evaluation process carried out by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Education (MEDEK) has concluded positively and that two of our programs have been granted Full Accreditation.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz CAN, our Vice Rectors, the University administrative units, the Coordination Office for Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality, as well as the deputy coordinators and members of the coordination office for their valuable support throughout the process.
I also extend my thanks to all academic staff serving on the Quality Commission, Accreditation Commission, Bologna Coordination Commission, and other related committees; to our department heads, faculty members, and administrative staff, whose dedicated efforts significantly contributed to this achievement.
As the first MEDEK accreditation achievement of Giresun University, this result clearly reflects our quality-oriented management approach and commitment to continuous improvement. In the upcoming period, we will continue our efforts to strengthen the culture of quality assurance and to increase the number of accredited programs. In this context, accreditation applications for the Physiotherapy and Child Development Programs are planned for 2026.”
