As Giresun University School of Health Services, we wish to inform the public about a critical development that directly affects the future of our university.
The FISKOBIRLIK land area, located directly across from the Güre Campus where our school is situated and officially planned as Giresun University's expansion area, has been put up for sale. This development seriously threatens our university's growth plans.
The land in question is designated as an expansion area for Giresun University in the zoning plan and has been reserved for the university's future needs for years. However, recent zoning plan amendments have removed this area from the university expansion zone, making it available for sale.
Should this land sale proceed:
Giresun University's expansion opportunities will be completely eliminated
Existing units at Güre Campus will remain congested
Development plans for the university's all units will be disrupted
Educational quality for thousands of students will be negatively affected
The region's potential as an educational center will be damaged
As the School of Health Services, we expect public support in the following areas:
From Local Administrators: Giresun Municipality should review its zoning amendment decisions regarding this land
From Political Representatives: The issue should be brought to the parliamentary agenda to seek solutions
From Civil Society Organizations: A unified stance defending the right to education should be adopted
From Alumni and Students: They should support their university by raising their voices
Education is the future of a society, and this future cannot be subject to negotiation. The sustainable growth of Giresun University is vital for the development of both our city and our region. Therefore, we call upon all stakeholders to show sensitivity on this matter and support our university's rightful demand.
