Pursuant to the Regulation on Academic Organisation in Universities, the duties of the head of department are as follows:
To be responsible for education, teaching and research activities at all levels within the department
To ensure that all activities related to the department are carried out in an organised and efficient manner
To ensure the effective use of resources
To participate in the school board and represent the department
To monitor and supervise the duties of academic staff assigned to the department
To prepare and submit, at the end of each academic year, a report outlining the department's educational, teaching and research activities of the past year and the work plan for the coming year
To chair the department board
To appoint deputy heads of department and coordinate their duties
