The Exhibition and Award Ceremony of the Waste Wheel Competition, organised for Giresun University students as part of the 5 June World Environment Day Events under the leadership of the Giresun University Environmental Problems and Clean Production Application and Research Centre and in cooperation with the Giresun Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, was held on 10 June 2024 in the Foyer Area of our University's Rectorate Building.
Fatma YILMAZ and Ayşe YILMAZ, students of the Child Development Program of the Department of Child Care and Youth Services of our Vocational School, took part in the event with their project entitled “Unfading Flowers” and won second place as a result of the evaluations. In creating their project, our students made use of plastic PET bottles, plastic coffee containers, cardboard egg cartons, plastic shampoo bottles and used wooden skewers so that waste could be reclaimed and brought back into use. Lecturer Dr. Banu TEPE and Lecturer Ender USTA, members of the teaching staff of our Child Development Program, were also present at the award ceremony of our students on behalf of our Vocational School. We thank our students, who represented our Vocational School successfully with the successful result they achieved in the event.
