To participate in the school board and represent the department

To monitor and supervise the duties of the teaching staff assigned to the department

To prepare and submit a report at the end of each academic year explaining the department's past education, training, and research activities, as well as the work plan for the following year

To chair the department board

To appoint vice chairs of the department and coordinate their duties
