      About the Department

      The Department of Statistics operates under Giresun University Vocational School of Health Services and hosts the Medical Data Processing Technician Programme. The department was established in 2026 in line with the outcomes of the Digitalisation in Health Workshop conducted in cooperation between the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Ministry of Health, and brings together the fields of health data management, health statistics and health informatics.

      The department aims to train well-equipped technicians in areas such as the collection, standardisation, processing, analysis and reporting of health data, clinical coding and classification systems, and health information systems. Within the scope of the 3+1 Vocational Training in the Workplace Model, students take theoretical and applied courses at school for three semesters and complete one semester (the 3rd or the 4th semester) of full-time workplace training at healthcare institutions.
