A Meaningful Visit to a Nursing Home by the Child Development Program and Its Faculty

Students in our college’s Child Development Program organized a meaningful event as part of their commitment to social responsibility and community awareness. Members of the Child Health and Education Club, accompanied by the Club’s Academic Advisor, Lecturer Ender Usta, and program faculty members Assistant Professor Banu Tepe and Assistant Professor Sibel Aydın, visited the Giresun Nursing Home for Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center on March 13, 2026, as part of “Elderly Week” activities.

During the visit, a strong communication environment was established with the nursing home residents; mutual conversations took place, songs were sung, and enjoyable moments were shared through various games. Our students had the opportunity to benefit from the life experiences of the nursing home residents while experiencing firsthand the importance of intergenerational interaction.

This meaningful event contributed to our students’ professional development and created a quality time that served as a source of morale and motivation for the nursing home residents. The visit, which strengthened intergenerational solidarity, provided unforgettable moments for both parties.
