UMKE Awareness Training and Trauma Applications Competition Held for First Aid and Emergency Care Program Students

On 12 May 2026, under the leadership of Lecturer Figen ÇİÇEK, the Giresun National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) delivered an awareness training session to our First Aid and Emergency Care Program students, introducing UMKE activities and focusing on the effective use of equipment employed in trauma applications. The training was followed by a competition program.

The training program was attended by Sadi DEMİR, Şehriban BIYIK, Salim Cenk GÜNDÜZ, Erkan Eren KÖSE and Mehmet BODUR from the Giresun UMKE team. Within the scope of the training, our students were informed about UMKE’s areas of duty, the operations it conducts during disasters and emergencies, and the management of emergency cases involving trauma patients.

During the practical component of the training, UMKE vehicles were introduced and hands-on exercises were carried out on the correct and effective use of equipment employed in trauma cases. In the competition organised at the end of the program, the teams competed in both a case-evaluation stage and an obstacle-course stage.

In the case-evaluation stage, prepared in line with realistic case scenarios, participants’ rapid decision-making, accurate intervention and team-coordination skills were assessed; in the obstacle-course stage, physical endurance, teamwork and time management came to the fore.

Medals were presented to the students who ranked among the top finishers by the UMKE team and our School Director, Prof. Dr. Aytaç GÜDER. At the conclusion of the event, we extend our sincere thanks to the Giresun UMKE team for their valuable contributions to the program and for the meaningful experience they provided to our students.
